We are very excited to break ground on our largest project to date! Construction of the 16-units on Windley Key is expected to begin in July!
The units will be 2 bedroom/ 2.5 bath townhomes with parking under neath, concrete floors, walls, metal roof, impact doors and windows. Eight of the units will be home ownership, and the others will be rentals. There will also be a 2,000 sqf commercial building that will likely be a Habitat ReStore serving the Islamorada area.
Habitat is also thrilled to announce that the construction of the "Key Heights/Esslinger Corner" project is scheduled to begin in September. The following month, we will begin the family selection process for the four housing opportunities.
This project, located at MM 89 in Islamorada, consists of two single family homes and one duplex.
Our summer building efforts also include a brand new 3 bedroom, 2 bath, concrete stilt home located at 10 Fisherman's Trail, MM 99 Oceanside in Key Largo. We are now taking applications for this home and expect to break ground before September.
It's going to be a busy summer — stay tuned for progress updates and photos.
The Alberto and Leydis Rodriguez along with their two daughters moved into their home in Riviera Village in Key Largo in December 2016.
As of 2017, the seven-home Mandalay Building Project was the largest in Habitat's
25-year history in the Upper Keys.
The final home of the two and three bedroom houses, located at MM 97 Oceanside in Key Largo, was completed in the summer of 2017 four years after the first groundbreaking.
